Russian President Vladimir Putin became an internet sensation at the APEC summit after he gallantly offered a shawl to Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping. The image went viral and cemented Putin’s image as a heartthrob in China, but was soon scrubbed by Chinese censors.
