BlueCoin started as a trading game, and as a cryptocurrency began as a bit of a joke.
It later gained the support of notable supporters like Charlie Shrem, and is gaining a reputation as a serious technogical innovator in the crypto space. Their community promises a clean water charity in keeping with the BLU theme, and the developers behind it are working on a number of innovations. The hybrid proof-of-stake/X11 scrypt mining set-up is ASIC and 51%-attack resistant, both proof systems are soon to be upgraded to be even more resilient. They also hope to add GHOST and coin join functionality for speedy confirmation times and enhanced user anonymity. Check their website at http://bluecoin.info/
Summer is almost upon us, ladies and gentlemen, and you know what that means : flashy, fashionable colors! The cryptocurrency scene is no exception to that this year, with BlackCoin, WhiteCoin, YellowCoin, ReddCoin, and now….BlueCoin!
I always say “you shouldn’t discriminate because of color”, so we try to cover all the “colored” cryptocurrencies here on CryptoArticles. We’re starting with BlueCoin today, and will look at YellowCoin,ReddCoin,OrangeCoin and WhatevercolorCoin that comes out as well.
BlueCoin is a Scrypt PoW/PoS hybrid, with a coin supply of 1,000,000,000 BLU. Blocks take 90 seconds to generate, and will reward you with 10,000 BLU. Difficulty re-targets every block.
There is a 3% pre-mine on BlueCoin, which will be used for bounties (to develop services, games, and whatnot), network maintenance, and coin expansion. I do hope some of that pre-mine will be sent to us for this article, harr harr!
As I mentioned, BlueCoin also has a PoS side to it, which will kick in after the 100,00th block has been mined. There will be PoS blocks afterwards, rewarding BlueCoin holders with a 3% annual stake, with a minimum stake age of 2 days. The annual PoS inflation will be roughly 3%.
Poloniex is the biggest exchange where you can buy, sell and trade BlueCoin. It’s not the only exchange though, as BLU/BTC trading pairs can also be found on BitTrex, NewCoinTrade, Europex and CoinSwap.
