The egregious Margaret, Lady Hodge, has managed to get herself into the newspapers again by complaining about the corporate tax arrangements of Uber. She’s insisting that as the company books its rides in London through a Netherlands based company this means that it is “avoiding” corporate tax in the UK. Further, that London should withdraw its licence to operate in the capital until that tax arrangement is changed. The sad thing about this is that it, just once again, shows that Margaret, Lady Hodge, simply doesn’t understand the tax system that she’s so keen about commenting upon. Which, for someone who is chair of the Public Accounts Committee is something of a pity.
