As millions of viewers watched in amazement on July 4th as “Joey Jaws” Chestnut stuffed 61 hot dogs in his mouth in 10 minutes to retain his 8th title as the reigning champion of Nathan’s Famous Hot Dog Eating Contest, this feat–although quite incredible in its own right—raises important concerns among medical professionals.
