'No Borders, No Boundaries': Cinnabon's Kat Cole Shares Her Recipe For Success

Cinnabon president Kat Cole doesn’t have a sweet story to tell. At least it didn’t start that way. Cole’s father was an alcoholic. She was raised by a single mother in Jacksonville, Florida. Cole’s mom fed the family on $10 a week. At the age of 16, Cole worked part-time as a Hooter’s waitress to make ends meet. Although Cole was the first person in her family to make it to college, she dropped out (she later returned and earned an MBA). But despite her lack of resources and  “lack of pedigree,” Cole became Cinnabon’s president, overseeing a global bakery chain with 1,200 locations in 54 countries. And she did it all by her 35th birthday.
