The Fossil Fuel Companies Are Not Morally Responsible For Carbon Emissions

A very strange idea being put forward over at Grist. The idea that the fuel companies, the Exxons and Shells of this world, are responsible for the carbon dioxide emissions that threaten the future of the planet. It’s akin to stating that farmers are responsible for the fact that we like bacon. for the emissions come from the fact that we want to have heat, light and transport. Thus it is we the consumers who are responsible for those emissions, not the companies that do the drilling and transport of those fuels.
