A couple of recent developments in HDD and flash memory will have significant impact on storage developments in the near future, particularly for enterprise cloud storage systems. These developments are the development of a second source for Ethernet interface HDDs and plans for 3D NAND manufacturing plants by major flash manufacturers in the near future.
