More than half of U.S. states have death penalty, but many aren't using it

The death penalty in the U.S. is making headlines this week after Utah passed a law that allows firing squads to carry out capital punishment, when lethal injection isn’t an option. Utah is one of 32 states that allows the death penalty, but many states aren’t using it.
