British Museum allows Elgin Marble to leave country — on loan

For first time in 200 years, the British Museum has allowed one of the Parthenon Marbles leave to Britain. It is being lent to Russia’s Hermitage Museum. Greece has long maintained that the ancient sculptures were unlawfully taken by Lord Elgin in the 19th century.
