Joan Rivers dead in New York at 81, says daughter

Joan Rivers, the brash comedian who enjoyed a five-decade career on stage and television, died at age 81 Thursday. ‘My mother’s greatest joy in life was to make people laugh,” daughter Melissa Rivers said.
