On the heels of Chipotle’s better-than-expected second quarter results — the fast-casual chain reported a 17% surge in same-store-sales — competitor McDonald’s revealed Tuesday morning that it struggled during its second fiscal quarter, with profit declining 1% and same-store-sales dropping 1.5% as guest traffic in the U.S. failed to grow compared to the prior year.
