France Breaks European Union Law To Block GE Bid For Alstom

This is becoming something of a habit in certain European countries, that for the sake of political convenience they start to break the very European Union laws that they themselves have signed up for. We saw this in Italy when they demanded that sell its advertising in that country through a company based in that country. This is entirely contrary to EU law on the Single Market. Which expressly insists that the EU is a single market and any company based anywhere in it may do business wherever they choose, without needing to have a local office at all.
