40% of 'designated drivers' drinking, U.S. study finds

A study published Monday in the Journal of Studies on Alcohol and Drugs found that roughly 40 per cent of the designated drivers they interviewed had drunk enough to register on a breathalyzer test – and 20 per cent had had enough to “significantly impair” their driving.
